Beverley Grammar School is the country's oldest state school. It was founded in 700 AD and is also has the accolade of being the eighth oldest school overall in the country. The school is a boys only secondary academy and has around 850 boys on its roll.
The school is located between Queensgate and Sloe Lane in Beverley, close to Beverley Westwood (which can be seen from its rear classrooms). The main building and reception of Beverley Grammar School are situated at the top of the school's drive, adjacent to the playing fields.
